Atlantic Communities I

The histories of Europe, North America, Western Africa, and Latin America converge in this first course of the Atlantic Communities sequence. The course begins with the creation of the Atlantic Community in the 1400s and ends with the effects of Napoleon’s empire building on both sides of the Atlantic. The question of authority— who has it, on what basis they claim it, and how people in opposition respond to it—is a central theme.
